Wood Turning & Red Gum Furniture
The Cavendish Primary School will host a variety of wood turning exhibitors and red gum crafts as well as red gum furniture vendors.
The Cavendish Red Gum Festival welcomes Tim Butler of Grampians Furniture as an exhibitor and vendor.
Tim works from a fully equipped workshop at Halls Gap and combines over 20 years experience with traditional methods, modern technology and durable finishes to ensure the highest quality possible for ageless redgum master pieces. All pieces are hand crafted on location at Tim’s showroom / workshop in the heart of The Grampians National Park.
The Central Western Woodworkers Group
The Central Western Woodworkers Group was formed in the 1990’s as a result of the organisers of the Melbourne Timber & Woodworking Show asking for any woodworking clubs to have a stand at the show to display and sell woodcraft items.
There were initially seven clubs from rural Victoria who banded together and the CWWG was formed. Today there only five clubs affiliated with the CWWG as two clubs have since folded. The current clubs are, Sunbury, Bendigo, Ballarat, Ararat and Wimmera.
The CWWG meets quarterly at the various clubs on a round robin system. As well as attending the Melbourne timber show, the group also holds the annual Grampians U Turn woodturning weekend at Ararat at the end of April. This was initially held at Horsham until the venue there was no longer available.
The group also hold a Skills & Knowledge Day each year, again each club has a turn hosting on a round robin system.
The motto of the CWWG is “Promoting Friendship in Woodwork”.
